Tolstoy Dacha makes beautiful, useful objects for everyday life. It takes its inspiration from the Russian dacha, where practicality and beauty have always existed side by side, and where ordinary things are often highly individual, decorative and made to last.

Tolstoy Dacha draws on Alexandra Tolstoy’s life between England and Russia, and on many years of travel through Central Asia. Its designs bring together English and Russian traditions with the colours, patterns and craftsmanship of Kyrgyz nomadic life.

Each object is made in small quantities, in collaboration with skilled makers. Natural materials, craftsmanship and longevity are important, but so too is beauty: pieces should be both pleasing and useful.

Alexandra founded Tolstoy Dacha from a desire to create beautiful objects, inspired by a lifetime of travel and a love of folk traditions.
