In the dacha, nothing is decorative for its own sake.
Everything has a reason to be there: embroidered pillows stacked high on a bed, ready for guests, icons in the corner watching over the room, geraniums in the window as a sign of life during the long winters. Life is pared back to essentials, but those essentials are carefully chosen, shaped and refined by generations.
